Grape Creek Vineyards

Grape Creek Vineyards is one of the top places to propose at. Not only do you get to celebrate afterwards with some amazing wine, but you don’t really have to plan anything for the actual proposal!

Once you book your surprise proposal with Grape Creek, you can just sit back and wait for the big day to come. The go-to plan that usually takes place is, a staff member with give you a fake VIP tour of the vineyard. After a little history, a fake phone call will be taken, and the staff member will walk away to take the call. During this moment, you have the chance to propose in private!

Though, it’s not entirely private. Since there are guests seated at the tables nearby, if they catch glimpse of the proposal, expect cheering and clapping. If this isn’t your thing, then you may want to go with a different plan.

Grape Creek does charge a photography fee, so please be sure to give them a call and book your day with them if a photographer is going to be present! Estimated fee is $200.

Wildseed Farms

Wildseed Farms is not technically a vineyard, but they do sell wine to taste! Not only do they sell wine, they also have some gorgeous flowers during most of the blooming seasons.

Not only is it a great location to “smell the roses”, it’s free! So you don’t need to reserve anything for the proposal or contact anyone about it. Just show up when you’re ready and propose!

Another good piece of info is to check out their website before your arrival. Wildseed Farms puts live updates on what flowers are in full bloom, and when to expect future flowers. The summer/fall season unfortunately doesn’t provide many flowers, but the spring season has some amazing options!

Becker Vineyard

Becker Vineyard is definitely a hot spot for proposals! Last I heard, there’s at least one minimum on each weekend. That’s crazy!

One suggestion I give to some of my clients is to take their significant other on a VIP tour. You’ll be taken around the facility, even see things that regular visitors normally don’t see. Then at the end, you’re taken to the vineyard, and this is where the magic happens! They will have no idea this is going to happen!

If this is something that speaks to you, I would definitely give Becker Vineyard a call to let them know this will happen and book your tour in advanced. There is a fee for the tour, so be prepared to pay! Estimated fee is $200/hour.

Oh! And by calling ahead of time to let them know a proposal is going to happen, it will allow the tour guide to move away and give you some privacy.

Barons Creek Vineyard

Barons Creek Vineyard is another great location to pop the question! The archetecture is amazing, and everything is so bright and beautiful! There’s also a neat little tower where you can head up too to see all of Fredericksburg. It’s a romantic spot for a proposal, and there’s also an amazing staff that’ll serve you some of the best wine.

With this location, it’s not as crowded as other winery spots, and will give you a great place to pop the question. There isn’t a fee to pop the question in the area, but if you’re wanting professional photos taken there, the fee is $250 to reserve your time.

Regardless of needing professional photography or not, you’ll still need to make reservations to drop by. During the week, walk-ins are doable. But weekends are a no-go. You’ll for sure need a reservation to walk in through the door. If you’re looking for something romantic and small, this is your spot! Just check out this photo we took from this location! Isn’t it beautiful?

Note: This location prefers reservations in advanced to make sure you have your time on their books. If you don’t want to be turned away, make sure to give them a call beforehand! Also, there’s hardly any shade here so if you’re wanting a summer surprise proposal, be prepared to sweat…A LOT.

Signor Vineyards

Another great spot for a proposal is Signor Vineyards. At Signor, there’s sometimes live music and other fun events going on. Since the location is pretty big, you can either find a spot where there’s a lot of people to show off the proposal, or an area away from everyone to make it more private.

Did we mention that they’re pet friendly too? Bring your fur baby along to join in on the fun! If you’re looking for something that’ll have you celebrating right after the big moment, this is the spot! Who wouldn’t want to dance after a celebration?

Also, the fee at this vineyard is not an ordinary fee. You MUST have a membership, or sign-up to be a member to have your surprise proposal captured by a professional photographer. The membership fee is about $500 a year. No membership means no surprise proposal being photographed by a professional. If it’s only an engagement session, it’s $100.

Note: This location prefers reservations in advanced to make sure you have your time on their books. If you don’t want to be turned away, make sure to give them a call beforehand! The weekends are always super packed!

Altstadt Brewery

Another great location in Fredericksburg is Altstadt Brewery. We haven't had any recent engagement/proposals at this location, but we’ve been seeing a lot of proposals on social media recently. The whole brewery is beautiful, and you’ll feel like you’re away from home in luxury. It’s definitely another great spot to pop the question!

Note: This location doesn’t offer reservations for surprise proposals. It’s first come, first serve on wherever you’d like on the property.

Wanting something that’s more adventurous? We’ve got ideas for this too!

So we’ve gone through our list of wineries, but you might be thinking that some of those locations don’t really speak to you. Don’t worry! We totally understand!

Maybe you’re into something that’s more private, outdoorsy maybe? Something that feels like you’re on top of the world with your spouse-to-be? Here’s a few places that would be perfect for you!!

Cross Mountain Park

Looking for a private, free, romantic spot? Here’s a great location to use!

Not only is Cross Mountain directly in Fredericksburg, but there’s hardly anyone that visits this location. So if you’re wanting something super private, this may be the spot for you!

We highly recommend coming here around golden hour, (sunset). Not only do you get an amazing view of Fredericksburg, but you also get amazing lighting for photos. And I mean, who doesn’t like sunset photos?

Sekrit Theater

Sekrit Theater is a small area located in Austin, Texas. It’s much further away from Fredericksburg, but the location is totally worth it!

It has the complete vibe of, “Keep Austin Weird” along with other neat spots to use. The most popular area to use is the glass greenhouse. It looks more like a vintage greenhouse with a few broken glass squares, and a couple of old chandeliers. This spot can be used multiple ways, but it can also be used for a surprise proposal! You can decorate the area or just go with the flow.

If this is a location you’d be interested in, you MUST book & pay in advance as the time slots go by fast. This location is a HUGE hot spot for photographers, so you know planning needs to be on top game to be here.

Decorating must be done by either you, or an outside party as the owner does not offer this service. And be sure to clean up afterwards! It’s greatly appreciated!

Enchanted Rock

Enchanted Rock is definitely a hot spot for proposals if you’re in to some outdoor like activities. It’s located about 18 miles North of Fredericksburg.

While looking out into the distance at the gorgeous landscape that’s called the Texas Hill Country. You can get on one knee, have your significant other turn around towards you, and pop the question. It’ll be such a romantic spot for this, and I know the proposal will be just perfect! What better way to propose than to have the absolute best background for the perfect day.

Along with proposals, having an elopement here is also another fun thing to do! We’ve photographed an elopement at this location before. The couple told us that this location was where their first date was, and they knew this is where they wanted to say “I DO” as well.

We climbed up towards the top, and got some great photos of them as the sun was setting. Just think, this could be you too while proposing! Doesn’t that sound amazing?

But before you start planning, it’s best to buy a pass in advance to make sure you’re guarantee inside the park. The park fills up pretty quickly, and if they reach capacity, they will turn you away. But by having a pass, you’re guaranteed to be let in. To purchase this, head to their website to purchase your passes or click here!

Note: This location may be fun, but the summer season brings out a lot of not-so-friendly critters such as snakes. Also, the scorching Texas heat is completely doubled here with temperatures reaching triple digits at times. If you don’t want to pass out from heat exhaustion, this may not be the spot to propose at!

Pedernales Falls State Park

This location is located outside of Johnson City going towards Dripping Springs Texas. This is an absolute amazing location if you’re in to the outdoor lifestyle.

The park is HUGE, and there are so many places to make the magic happen. Though be warned, if you’re out of shape like me, going back up to the parking lot will knock the wind out of you. The steep climb is what’s a killer, especially if you’re carrying heavy equipment.

Other than that, this is a top location if you’re willing to do a bit of hiking. Make sure to bring some bug spray, comfortable shoes, and watch for poison ivy on the way down! You definitely don’t want to ruin the moment by having to race back up to your car and grab some medicine.

As with Enchanted Rock, you will also need to purchase a pass in advanced for this location. If they reach capacity, they will turn you away as well. Make sure to purchase your passes in advanced to make sure your day is all set! To purchase your passes, click here!

Mount Bonnell

Mount Bonnell is a GORGEOUS location for a proposal, and the best part about it, it’s free! You don’t need to purchase any permits or day passes for this location.

Though, it’s always pretty crowded around sunset time, so be prepared to either have people be in the way, or attract some applause from a crowd. Aside from this, you do get a nice scenic view of Lake Travis, and all of the cool boats in the area.

It’s also a great place for a picnic if you’re wanting to relax and watch the sunset. It would definitely be really romantic!
